A destination specialist
Having been born and growing up in Wales, and after studying Spanish at university and spending several years living and working in Spain, I have in-depth knowledge and experience in the countries’ culture, language, gastronomy, wine and tourism scenes. As a travel and food journalist for more than 15 years, my writing has predominantly focussed on these two extraordinary countries.
Spain & the Canary Islands
I’ve write about all eight official Canary Islands – Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera and La Graciosa – as well as mainland Spain for top-tier publications. I talk about culture, food, wine, walking, history and travel across the archipelago and beyond. The Canary Islands (and Spain more broadly) are one of the most misunderstood destinations in Europe, and I’ve spent years showcasing what the islands have to offer away from tacky tourist resorts, from volcanic landscapes, extraordinary experiences, and creative cuisine and intriguing wines.

Wales
I write about Wales for domestic and international audiences. Whether that’s foraging on the country’s stunning coastlines, delving into its industrial heritage, showcasing extraordinary food producers or eating my way around an ever-increasing authentic restaurant scene. As founder and editor of the Welsh Kitchen newsletter, I’ve spent years building a platform around Welsh food and drink culture. Housed on Substack, the publication has more than 1,000 subscribers globally and is proof that there’s an international appetite for stories about Wales and Welsh culture, food, drink and identity.
